Since 1970. Thackerys is a multi-generational family breeder founded by Susan and Stephanie, with the youngest generation, Bradley, now involved in day-to-day care.

Are Thackerys puppies DNA tested?

Yes. Every Thackerys puppy is sold with a laboratory certificate confirming they are clear of PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy) and FN (Familial Nephropathy).

Where is Thackerys Kennels located?

Thackerys operates from two homes in Essex — Billericay, Downham (CM11 1LP) and Shenfield (CM15 8RN). Visits are by appointment only.

Where do Thackerys puppies go to live?

Our puppies live with families across the UK — from Essex, London, the South East and the South West to anywhere south of Birmingham — and with families internationally including in the United States, Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, Germany and the Netherlands.

About Thackerys Kennels

An honest breeder, run by family.

Thackery's is a distinguished dog breeder based in Essex, at the forefront of responsible animal breeding since 1970. What began as an unforeseen pet pregnancy has evolved into puppies that prioritise the health and well-being of every animal under our care, from birth through to their integration into their permanent homes.

Founded by Susan and Stephanie, Thackery's is more than a breeding establishment — it is a legacy of animal lovers, with even the youngest generation, represented by Bradley, actively participating in the day-to-day care of the animals. Our smallholding is also home to a rescue pony, sheep and geese, underlining the breadth of our commitment to animal welfare.

It is our staunch belief that the welfare of our animals supersedes all else. They are family. Every animal at Thackery's is assured optimal care, nutrition and comfort.

We are proud to be a licensed breeding establishment, holding accreditation from Brentwood County Council under licence number 22/00146/LIANI.
